Church continues good form

3 March 2016

Simon Church scored his third goal in five games for Aberdeen in their 1-0 victory over Dundee United.

The striker, who netted on his debut and in the recent 1-1 draw with St. Johnstone, glanced a header home from Nicky McClean’s cross just before the half-hour mark to earn them a vital victory which moves them to within four points of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.

Church, earlier, had a goal ruled out for offside, after tapping home a cross from McClean, in a game where the Dons had two goals disallowed. The 27-year-old was also denied a second by a great save from Eiji Kawashima.

Next up for Aberdeen is a trip to seventh-placed Partick Thistle and with Celtic not in action until the following Saturday, Church and co have the chance to close the gap to just one point.
