Kabongo Tshimanga grabbed a goal and Callum Brittain provided an assist in Throttur Reykjavik’s 4-0 victory over Grotta in the Last 16 of the Icelandic Cup.
The Reykjavik club led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Brynjar Jonasson’s header, an advantage which was doubled 10 minutes after the re-start through former MK Dons loanee Dean Morgan.
Just after the hour mark, Dons youngster Brittain provided Jonasson with the easiest of finishes to make it 3-0 – the defender drew-in the Grotta goalkeeper before picking out his teammate who made no mistake from close-range.
Tshimanga then entered the contest in place of the two-goal Jonasson and in the fourth minute of stoppage time he registered his first goal for Throttur with a confident finish from close range, following some good work by William Palmason.
Wednesday’s win puts Throttur into the quarter-finals of the Icelandic cup – the ties are set to take place in early July.
Brittain and Tshimanga now have a two-week break before their next league fixture against Fjolnir.
