MK Dons will begin their league campaign away from home for the third time in four years.
While the Dons drew 0-0 with the Shropshire outfit that day, they had much better success in their opening away game of last season, beating Rotherham United 4-1 in a stunning clash at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
Their first-ever road opener was against Leicester City in August 2008 and that was followed by a trip to Walsall two years later in 2010/11.
Prior to the 2013/14 season, the Dons had only played away from home twice on opening day.
The clash with the Saddlers was boss Karl Robinson’s first game in charge of the Dons in a full-time capacity and he began his reign with a 2-0 triumph courtesy of goals from Sam Baldock and Dan Woodards.
