Dons duo set for London to Amsterdam challenge

2 June 2016

Two MK Dons representatives will be cycling from London to Holland this weekend to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Marketing executive Oliver Stephenson and customer services representative Sam Swanton, will be taking part in the Football to Amsterdam challenge and cycling 145 miles from the nation’s capital to the Netherlands, on behalf of the Club and the Football League.

They will ride 83 miles on the first day, travelling from the iconic Lee Valley VeloPark to Harwich, before boarding the ferry to Europe. The second day will then consist of a 62 mile trek from the Hook of Holland to the Ajax Stadium in Amsterdam, where they’ll find the finish line!

Their aim is to raise £2,000 and increase awareness of prostate cancer - the most common form of the disease in the UK after skin cancer. One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime - on average, that's the equivalent of two players in a squad of 16.

The pair have been training since the start of the year but support from the Dons fans will give them the extra drive and motivation they need ahead of the gruelling challenge.
