Bowds set for London to Brighton ride

16 June 2016

Dean Bowditch will be tackling the London to Brighton Bike Ride this weekend, in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

The MK Dons forward will be joining 15,000 other fundraisers on Sunday and cycling 54 miles from Clapham Common to the promenade in Brighton.

Bowditch told mkdons.com: “I’m not one to just put my feet up and relax during the off season.

“It’s going to be hard and tough but it’s for a good cause in the British Heart Foundation – they are a very well-known charity that does such good work.

“I’m doing it with a group of friends and we’re looking to raise as much money as we can for them. If people can donate and help support us and the charity then that will be great.”

He continued: “I’m sure this will also help me to keep fit and hopefully put me in a good position when I come back and do my real job later in the month.”

Training is well underway for Bowditch, who is confident he’ll be able to complete the ride despite only managing to travel half the distance so far.

“The furthest I’ve managed to do so far is 25 miles and when I’m getting off after my rides, I’m walking like John Wayne for a little bit!

“54 miles a long old way and although the training has been tough, I’m sure I’ll be alright on the day.”

It’s not just the distance that concerns Bowditch, though.

“Biking gear is definitely not the sort I’m used to – it’s rascal! I’m not really keen on wearing tight clothes but you have to wear it!”
