Church features as Wales make history

7 July 2016

MK Dons striker Simon Church featured for Wales as they made history at Euro 2016.

Chris Coleman’s squad made the final four – the furthest the nation has ever gone at a major tournament.

Their remarkable journey came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Portugal in the semi-finals – a game which saw Church come as a second-half substitute just after the hour mark.

That was Church’s second appearance of the tournament after featuring in Wales’ 3-0 win over Russia, which helped them top their qualification group.

Academy graduate George Williams and Jonny Williams, a popular loanee at Stadium MK last season, were also part of the Wales’ 23-man party.

The latter made four appearances during the tournament in France – in the wins over Slovakia and Northern Ireland and the defeats to England and Portugal.

The trio, along with the rest of the squad, will be given a warm welcome home by their nation when a open bus tour takes place in Cardiff at 4pm on Friday afternoon.
