MK Dons’ players returned to training this week and boss Karl Robinson is excited by the buzz around the squad.
The men from MK1 began preparations for the 2016/17 season on Monday and the hard work will continue over the next five weeks as the team gears up for the Sky Bet League One opener at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday 6th August.
“They're in a good state,” Robinson told the media at his first pre-season press conference.
“They all deserved a break and a holiday, to let their hair down. They have to relax and get back to normality but I don’t' expect anyone to come in out of shape.
“Dean Lewington is someone who looks in incredible shape and Samir Carruthers looks in the best shape I've seen him.
“I'm really excited about how they've come back and because there's a real buzz about the place – the excitement is better than I've seen for a long while.”

It's quite slow but I think that’s because the Euros have been on. We're waiting for the domino effect from the top – not until the Euros finish will we see things happen.
“We're not jumping at anything. It’s like a game of Tetris at the moment – we're just waiting for things to drop into the perfect positions.
“We've bought in three players but ideally we’d want six more. We need wingers on both flanks, a number 10 and then strikers.
The Liverpudlian has already signed Ed Upson, Paul Downing and former apprentice George Williams but is looking to add further to his group over the coming weeks.
As well as working with his side on the training pitch and in the meeting room, Robinson is also busy talking to transfer targets as he looks to strengthen his squad. Karl Robinson's men make their first Stadium MK appearance of the 2016/17 season on Tuesday 26th July, when they host Everton in a pre-season friendly.
