Karl: No excuses

13 January 2016

Karl Robinson was honest in his assessment of the Dons’ defeat to Sky Bet Championship promotion-contenders Burnley.

Despite a decent first-half display, the men from MK1 were punished by a clinical Clarets side after the interval and succumbed to a tough 5-0 reverse at stadiummk.

“I’m not making any excuses,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “They were better than us in the final third and they punished us.

“We weren’t as potent as them. It wasn’t through a lack of effort or had work, we just weren’t good enough.

“I understand why people left early – when it’s -1 outside and you’re getting beat 5-0, what’s to keep you there. For the fans who stayed and tried to keep us going, we thank you. We’re going to need them more than ever.”

“When you have these sorts of these evenings it’s important you take something from it. There are many components to our game that we can learn from tonight. It’s important we collect them and use them. This will make us stronger.”

He continued: “My players are embarrassed and I’m embarrassed. The players need to stand up and be counted.
