Di Matteo excited for ex-club battle

28 January 2016

When the Dons lock horns with Chelsea this Sunday there will be one extra-keen spectator – Roberto Di Matteo.

The popular Italian managed the Dons during the 2008/09 season before taking charge at Stamford Bridge in March 2011, leading the Blues to success in both the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Therefore, Di Matteo, who also made 175 appearances for Chelsea as a player, says he will find a way to watch this weekend’s Emirates FA Cup tie at stadiummk and expects an interesting battle between his two former sides.

“I’ll definitely be watching,” he told REDDOT in an exclusive interview. “It’s going to be a good game, I’m sure.

“The Cup is always a very important fixture in a Club’s season, especially for the lower clubs when they get the opportunity to test themselves against the Premier League clubs. I don’t think it gets any better than Chelsea for the Dons.”

Read the full interview with Di Matteo in Sunday’s bumper edition of REDDOT which will be available from sellers around stadiummk and the Club Store for just £3.

The former Dons boss talks about his time in Milton Keynes, his success with Chelsea and also his affection for the Emirates FA Cup.
