Williams waits for chance to impress

23 February 2016

Jonny Williams has had to wait patiently for his chance to impress but the on-loan midfielder is looking to take that opportunity once it arrives.

Williams moved to stadiummk on a 92-day loan back in January but a shoulder injury picked up in his debut at Bolton Wanderers has prevented the Wales international from being able to force his way into Karl Robinson’s starting XI.

However, now approaching full fitness, the 22-year-old is eager to get back on the pitch and show his team-mates, the Dons staff and the supporters what he’s all about.

“I’ve struggled with a bit of a shoulder problem since my first game and I’ve been trying to let it settle as much as I can in training and games,” Williams told DOTRED in an exclusive interview. “I’m getting back to a level now where I’m able to compete at 100%,”

“I came here to play games and get myself up to speed and I’m excited to play my part whenever I’m called upon.

“I’ll always give 100% effort when I’m out on the pitch and hopefully I can add some goals and assists.”

He continued: “I’m enjoying myself (with the Dons). There are a great bunch of lads here with some great staff. There’s a real friendly environment but a hard-working one as well.

“This is a place that is fighting to stay in the division so it’s a different experience for me. One of the reasons I came here was to challenge myself. It’s a new environment for me and it’s a different challenge.”

The midfielder talks about the ups and downs in his career so far, including winning promotion to the Premier League with Crystal Palace and missing a year through a serious leg injury. He also reveals which world-class player supported him through his treatment.
