Karl: Players deserve the credit

16 February 2016

Karl Robinson hailed his side’s tactical approach after they picked up an impressive five points from an extremely tough week.

Robinson’s men drew with Cardiff City and Middlesbrough before overcoming another former Premier League side Derby County 1-0 at the iPro Stadium.

“Recently, we've been more savvy,” he said. “Our game understanding has been the best it has ever been recently.

“We haven't been at our best, but we have been mentally. We've been cuter in the way we've played.”

A new-look defence has also been in operation for those three fixtures, which has seen the men from MK1 keep two clean sheets and concede just one goal.

He said: “We did what we did to benefit the Club. Joe and Matty being out didn't give anyone any pressure and Lee not playing for four months wasn't pushing Jordan. We brought George back and he's taking his opportunity.

“George is a great kid, he works hard, he's consistent and he deserves to be in the team. His aggressive nature and his tenacity are his key components. And being from Milton Keynes, it means a little bit more to him. The fans were really happy to see him back.”

As well as George Baldock returning, Jake Forster-Caskey, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Alex Revell and Jonny Williams have all come in to bolster the Dons.

He said: “The players who have come in will be important next week to keep people fresh and the fact that we can rotate at the top end of the pitch gives us food for thought. The players now have to be on it all the time or they'll be out of the rotation process.

“The five new players have given a boost to the squad and the group right now is as strong as it has been for a long time.”

Karl Robinson's men are back in action on Saturday when they host Bristol City at stadiummk in the Club's designated Ladies Day. Female fans, and accompanying gentleman, can purchase tickets in clubRed for just £25! Click here for full ticket details.
