Head of Sports Medicine Simon Crampton offers an injury update, including some positive news regarding David Martin...
“Dave picked up a slight tweak to his hamstring. He did it just as he was sprinting to take a goal kick – as he pushed off to take the kick he felt a bit of pain.
“He was quite worried about it at the time but we’ve had it scanned and it’s a very low grade injury.
“I’ve just finished doing a running session with him and he’s got another one (Thursday afternoon). Once we’ve got through that then he’ll go outside and do some functional stuff.
“All being well, if he continues on the path that he is on, he’ll back in training next week. Then it will be up to the manager to decide when he’ll be ready to get back involved.”
Ben Reeves
“It was a very unfortunate injury for Ben. He went to challenge for a ball and as he’s landed on his right leg, he’s twisted it slightly. Initially it was a painful one and then he woke up the next morning and there had been an inflammatory response.
“He’s injured some of the ligaments round the back of the knee but thankfully they are all intact. It’s just a stretch injury with some inflammation in and around the ligaments so we’ll need to leave it a couple of weeks just to let it settle down.”
Carl Baker
“Bakes has had a good couple of days work outside. He’s having a couple of day’s recovery now and then we’ll go again. We’ll soon be handing him over to Damo (Damien Doyle) to start doing some conditioning work outside
“He’s near the end of rehabilitation now, he’s just got a few more things to do before he’s back in full training.”
Matt Upson
“Matt’s doing well. He had some issues, initially, with his hamstring and then developed some issues with his calf. He seems to be almost over those.
“He’s with Damien now and over the next couple of weeks, he’ll get him up to match tempo.”
