Boss disappointed by unrecognisable Dons

22 February 2016

Karl Robinson felt his Dons side were ‘unrecognisable’ in Saturday’s defeat to Bristol City.

The men from MK1 were punished by the Robins for a disappointing performance at stadiummk and slipped to their first defeat in four games courtesy of Jonathan Kodjia’s brace.

“We were unrecognisable in many areas,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “There were too many long, forward hoofs up the pitch onto (Aden) Flint, who is one of the best aerial centre-halves in the league – that obviously wasn’t our game plan.

“The two goals came when we had comfortable possession in their final third and that’s not acceptable.

“The players looked flat and lethargic. With 20 minutes to go, it looked like we thought we’d been beat and nobody was forcing an error. The mentality has to improve and we have to get better.

“I thought it was a poor game, from both sides but we can’t use any excuse today, we just need to look at ourselves. I have to take responsibility for the defeat, it rests on my shoulders.”

“We go again. We’re still five points off the bottom three and our job is to stay above that line.”

He continued: “It was way off what I expect from the players but they know that. Everyone will look at themselves and everybody will take responsibility for a very, very poor performance but we won’t mope around.
