Bowds wants Dons to kick on

13 December 2016

Dean Bowditch is hopeful MK Dons can use Saturday’s victory to kick on and collect more positive results in the league over the festive period.

Bowditch’s second-half penalty earned the men from MK1 a 1-0 win over rivals AFC Wimbledon – their first home league win of the season –and the 30-year-old wasn’t understating how important the success was.

“It was a great day for us,” Bowditch told MK Dons PlayerHD. “Hopefully it will kick-start our season and it can be onwards and upwards for us now.

“A win like that can do everything for us. I’m just pleased for everyone at the Football Club – not just the players and the staff but for the fans as well. They’ve been great for us all season and to finally get that first win for them in a big game like this was perfect.

“Hopefully that will help springboard us going into these games over the festive period. When you’ve got so many games, you want to make sure you’re playing well.”

“Hopefully we can continue to learn and improve under him. He’s definitely got the enthusiasm and we are looking forward to good times ahead.”

“He’s come in, stamped his authority and got us working on a few different things. We’ve only had a few sessions so what he’s got into us has been incredible – that’s also testament to the lads, who have taken it all on board.

That winning penalty was also the first goal scored by an MK Dons player under Robbie Neilson and Bowditch says he’s enjoying working with the new manager.
