Robinson's Dons are ready

6 August 2016

Karl Robinson begins his seventh season as MK Dons manager later today and the Liverpudlian is as eager as ever to provide success for the Club and its supporters.

Robinson’s men travel to Greenhous Meadow this afternoon to take on Shrewsbury Town in their 2016/17 Sky Bet League One opener – their first competitive fixture in over three months.

“There’s nothing like competitive football,” the Dons boss told MK Dons PlayerHD. “Everyone goes to bed on Friday night hoping their team is going to win the league.

“Football is all about dreaming and our job is to make those dreams become reality. To do that, we know how hard we’ve got to work and we know there will need to be a high intensity throughout the course of the next nine months.

“We’re going to give the Football Club all we’ve got and hopefully we’ll come away with the success that we feel everyone in the Club deserves."

“But, on Saturday, we have to go to Shrewsbury and conduct ourselves in the right manner to try and get three points – we’re fully focused on the job in hand.”

He said: “The first few weeks are going to be tough given where we are currently but if we get the players we are speaking to then I feel we’ve got the foundations to have a successful season.

A striker and a wide-man are on top of the boss’ wish-list and if the Club are to be successful in the pursuit of their targets, Robinson is confident his side can compete at the right end of the table in 2016/17.

Robinson has brought in four new players this week but the 35-year-old is still looking to bolster his side before the August deadline.

Tickets for today's clash can be bought at Greenhous Meadow, priced at £20 adults and £15 over-65s/young adults, £8 12-18 year-olds and £6 8-11 year-olds, while under-8s go FREE.
