Robbo respectful of ex-boss Allen

30 August 2016

Ahead of tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy tie at Stadium MK, Karl Robinson has praised Barnet boss Martin Allen for the work he did during his time as MK Dons manager.

Allen gave the Club its first promotion-chasing season in 2007/08 after guiding his side to the League Two Play-Off semi-finals a year after its first ever relegation from the third tier.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him here again,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD ahead of his meeting with Allen’s Bees outfit. “He’s a good friend of a lot of ours and he knows what I think of him as a person.

“I’m not sure whether he gets the credit he deserves for what he did here. This Club was dwindling and he came in, gave it structure and gave it the platform for Paul (Ince).

“He also brought in some very good players, the likes of Keith Andrews, Sean O’Hanlon, Lloyd Dyer, Drissa Diallo. These players that he brought through played a big role the year we got promoted from League Two.”

“However, we want to win the first stage of this cup competition so we can get a similar result as the last time he was here,” Robinson added, referring to the Dons’ 3-0 success over Allen’s Notts County side in October 2011.

Tickets for tonight's Checkatrade Trophy tie with Barnet are priced from £10 adults and £1 under-18s. hereTo purchase tickets click , visit the Box Office/centre:mk kiosk or call 0333 200 5343.
