Paul looking to build on point

16 August 2016

Paul Downing is hoping MK Dons can build on Saturday’s point when they take on Bradford City at Stadium MK this evening.

Downing made his home debut in the 2-2 draw with Millwall at the weekend and now the 24-year-old centre-back is looking to claim his first home victory as a Dons player.

“With it being at home, we’ll look to take the game to them and try to pick the three points up,” he told MK Dons PlayerHD. “That will make (Saturday’s) draw even better then.

He said: “I’d like to think it’s getting better with each game, with a better understanding. We had a few pre-season friendlies and we’ve had the same back four two games running.

Downing, who is the one new addition to the starting defence, has impressed in his first two outings and he believes the partnerships are beginning to grow.

Saturday saw the Dons field the same back four for the second game in succession, following their clean-sheet display at Shrewsbury Town on the opening day.

He continued: “I enjoyed (my home debut). There was a good attendance and the fans were behind us. I look forward to playing under the lights here on Tuesday.”

“Seven points after three games is the aim. We’ll do all of our recovery work and analyse the opponents so we’re prepared for their strengths. We’re looking forward to the game.”

“We got our first clean sheet but obviously we’re disappointed with two goals we conceded (against Millwall). Overall, thought we dealt quite well with their front two who, on their day, are obviously one of the best partnerships in the division.”

“I’m getting a good understand with Joe and I’m getting to know everyone. Hopefully we can build on it.
