Karl Robinson has taken the unorthodox approach of naming his side for Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie at Newport County well in advance of kick-off.
Speaking after the 1-0 win at Shrewsbury Town, Robinson said: “I will name my team on Monday because I want people to know what we are doing. I will tell the fans my team and they can make the decision from there.
“The fans and my players’ welfare are the most important things for me. I will pick a team on their welfare and to reduce the risk (of injury).”
Robinson’s starting line-up will include new signings Lee Nicholls and Scott Wootton, while returning defender George B Williams will make his first start at right-back.
Otherwise, the team will be made up of young professionals and apprentices, including 16-year-old David Kasumu as well as second-year scholars Andrew Osei-Bonsu and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
MK Dons starting XI to face Newport County: Nicholls; GB Williams, Wootton, Jackson, Tilney; Kasumu, Osei-Bonsu; Furlong, Rasulo, Thomas-Asante; Tshimanga.
There will be several first-team players on the bench, such as Saturday’s goalscorer Daniel Powell, midfielder Ed Upson and winger George C Williams. On a positive note, Dean Bowditch is set to feature in the matchday squad after recovering from a calf injury sustained in pre-season.
Tickets for Tuesday's EFL Cup tie at Newport County are priced from £12 adults, £8 over-60s/under-21s/students and £5 under-16s, while under-6s go FREE.
