Karl: Full focus on PNE

15 April 2016

Karl Robinson insists his Dons side must concentrate on each game as it comes and not get caught up by the bigger picture.

The men from MK1 travel to Deepdale on Saturday to face Preston North End looking to make up the nine-point deficit they have on three teams above them in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Robinson, though, wants his players to just focus on the task at hand and do everything they can to take a valuable three points back down the M6.

“We have to go there and take this as an individual game, not look at where we are in the league table,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “It’s about each individual game for us now, to restore some pride.

“We have to play with more discipline but we also need to rejuvenate ourselves and find some confidence from within. A lot of teams go through patches like we’ve had, it’s about how you respond to them that will define your fate.”

“We need to get it right now on the pitch and restore some pride.”

“We’ve been honest with ourselves and each other and I feel we’ve responded in the right way this week, which is no surprise given the types of people that we’ve got here.

“We had to lift ourselves back up again because the fixture list doesn’t stop and that’s been a big psychological challenge. We’ve had to take it on the chin and accept the criticism, which we’ve done – nobody has shirked any responsibility.

“This is a results-based business and the results haven’t been good enough. We can talk about the different reasons why and about what might have been but the reality is we’re third from bottom.

“To say we were disappointed last Saturday is an understatement. It was gut-wrenching to say the least and a lot of things were said and people have been hurting over the last four or five days.

The Dons go into this weekend’s match on the back of a disappointing defeat to Rotherham United and Robinson admits his team have had to work to remain positive since then. Tickets for Saturday's clash with Preston North End at Deepdale are priced from £24 adults and £8 juniors, while travel is available at £20 adults and £19 all other supporters.
