Burns buoyed by solid start

20 April 2016

Charlie Burns was ‘over the moon’ after keeping a clean sheet on his first Football League start.

. “It’s a great feeling and I wish I was still out there playing, to be honest!Burns told MK Dons PlayerHD “I’m over the moon,”

The young goalkeeper helped the Dons hold Sheffield Wednesday to a goalless draw at Hillsborough, with a number of impressive saves and an all-round composed performance between the sticks.

The Academy graduate continued: “I’ve always been confident in my ability but until I got there out there with the fans and everything, I didn’t know for sure that I could do it. I’m glad now that I’ve done it and got the first one out of the way.”

“The players said in the changing room that they would try and give me a few touches early on and that’s exactly what they did. It helped to ease me into the game.”

“Everyone was great to me. I spoke to Cody and Dave before the game and they gave me some great advice. It really settled some nerves hearing what they had to say. Healdy’s was brilliant too, as he always is –  he’s always there for me.”
