Baker wants another Deepdale goal

16 April 2016

Carl Baker scored in the 1-1 draw away at Preston North End last season to earn the Dons an important point in the race for promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

Baker slid in to convert a cross from Dele Alli to secure a share of the spoils for his side and the winger is hoping to find the net against the Lilywhites again this weekend and help the men from MK1 pick up what would be another valuable result.

“I scored a goal there last year and it turned out to be an important result for us in the end,” Baker told MK Dons PlayerHD. “It would be nice to get on the scoresheet again and earn some vital points.”

“We’ve got to start by going to Preston and picking up points, then go from there. Hopefully, if we do that, the lads’ confidence levels will rise and then we can look at putting another run together.”

“Football is all about confidence. For me and last season, during that stretch, we were going into games full of belief and expecting to win games – we’ve got to do the same now.

“Nobody thought we could do it last year but we had that amazing run,” Baker added.

The Dons produced a terrific run of form at the back end of the 2014/15 campaign to beat Preston to second place in Sky Bet League 1 and, while the circumstances now are much different for Baker and Co, the 33-year-old is looking to draw inspiration from that spell. Tickets for today's match can be bought from the Away Booth at Deepdale, which opens at 1.30pm  - tickets are priced from £24 adults and £8 juniors.
