Karl keen to build on solid start

8 September 2015

Karl Robinson believes his Dons side have learnt a lot from their first month in the Sky Bet Championship and now wants them to use that moving forward.

The men from MK1 begin their September fixtures on Saturday when they travel to Middlesbrough and they go into that clash at the Riverside Stadium with seven points to their name – a solid return from their first five games in the second tier.

“It’s been a very good start,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “The way the players have conducted themselves has been magnificent – they’ve tried their best and I can’t ask for no more than that.

“There is a bitter taste in our mouth after (Birmingham City) because we felt we did enough to get something out of the game. Weirdly, the two defeats that have come along so far have been after two of our best performances, we’ve just not been able to get into good enough areas too often and capitalise on our dominance – that’s key at this level.

“There have been so many different elements to our game which have been great but we’ve also learnt so much in the first five games.”

He continued: “This year is obviously going to be the hardest. Whereas we’ve normally been at the top end of the table, now we’re not so it’s a different challenge in itself.

“These upcoming games are going to be a good test but it’s what we dreamt about the night before they played Yeovil (Town). Those dreams have now become true and it’s time to stand up and be counted - it’s important we really accept the challenge now and embrace it.”

Tickets for Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough will be available to buy until 5pm on Friday, priced at £32 for adults, £24 for over-65s and £17 for under-18s.
