Karl: Come out fighting

26 September 2015

Karl Robinson wants his players to ‘come out fighting’ against Derby County as they look to end the month a positive note.

The Dons entertain the Rams at stadiummk on Saturday lunchtime, a match which will be shown live on Sky Sports. Kick-off is at 12.30pm.

“It’s going to be a tough ask again this Saturday against, arguably, the most resourced team in this league,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “The odds are stacked against us but we have to make sure we come out fighting.

“We know we’ve had a really difficult two weeks with games. We had four games in 10 days and, while we’ve done that before, we’ve not done it against this quality of opposition and I think that told in certain aspects of our game on Wednesday.”

He continued: “I’ve seen Derby play four times this season and I know they like to change their system at times to suit the game – they have the freedom and capacity within their squad to do that successfully. Tactically, we’ve got a game plan for them and all we can do is our best.”

Although disappointed with the result and performance from his squad in midweek, Robinson was impressed by the support from the stands and the Dons boss has called on the fans give their tremendous backing to the team once again.

“The respect the fans showed the players on Wednesday will motivate us. This stadium was built for days like Saturday and we’ll need the fans more than ever."
