Church confident ahead of qualifiers

2 September 2015

Simon Church’s Wales could book their place at Euro 2016 this international week and the striker is eager to make sure that is the case.

Wales currently sit top of Group B, five points clear in the qualifying positions and therefore wins over Cyprus and Israel would be enough for Chris Coleman’s men to secure a spot in the finals should Bosnia fail to win in Belgium.

“The journey we’ve taken to get to where we are has been incredible,” Church told BBC Radio Wales. “It’s just important we just get over the line now.

“We’ve got a great squad and that’s shown throughout the campaign. The fans have been great too - it helps us on the pitch knowing that we’ve got the nation behind us.

He continued: “We say it every time we play, but these are two massive games. Our focus has always been to win the next game and up till now we’ve done really well with that. We do want to get over the line as soon as possible.”

Church’s Wales face Cyprus live on Sky Sports 1 this Thursday evening – kick-off is at 7.45pm BST.
