Boss' belief despite testing week

23 September 2015

Dons boss Karl Robinson is backing his players to continue to shine despite being in the midst of a testing week.

Robinson’s men face Premier League side Southampton at stadiummk tonight in the Capital One Cup before entertaining Sky Bet Championship big-hitters Derby County on Saturday lunchtime in front of the TV cameras.

The 35-year-old told mkdons.com: “I’ve made no secret that I’m disappointed with the timing of this week’s fixtures, which allows us just over two days to prepare for a game against one of the best-resourced and biggest clubs in our division.

“Looking at the bigger picture, the league is our priority but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to progress in the cup. My players and I want to win every game we play in and the fixture against Southampton is no different.”

He continued: “The quick turnaround and injuries, which haven’t helped our cause, means I will have to make changes but I have confidence in every player in my squad - it’s a chance for those who haven’t featured a lot recently to catch the eye.”

While Robinson has total belief in his players on the field, he also knows the Dons supporters will continue to perform in the stands.

He said: “The fans have been magnificent all season with their backing and we’ll need them this week. It will be great for them to see us compete with two big clubs and we’ll be doing all we can, like we always do, to reward them.”

Tickets for tonight's tie with Southampton are priced at £15 for adults, £12 for over-65s and under-21s, £5 for under-18s and only £1 for under-12s!
