Karl Robinson has called on his side to be more ruthless in both boxes, following the 3-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers.
That miss proved costly, however, as just eight minutes later QPR finally found a way past the Dons’ backline and took the lead – one they would add to twice before the final whistle sounded.
“We need to be better in the final third of the game,” Robinson said. “We were in the game for large periods but we need to make sure we’re ruthless for 90 minutes. I think sometimes we believe we can switch off when things are going right and at this level you can’t.
“I thought our game-plan worked. We stopped them playing how they like to play which just shows how well we did tactically. Ultimately, we switched off in the final 20 minutes and it cost us.”
He continued: “There have been a number of players who have missed chances this season when the score has been 0-0. We need to be more ruthless with our finishing but also with our defending. We need to be better in all areas of our game.
“We have to be better but we understand where we are. We’re coming up against teams who are way above us. We all understand that but we’re working hard to try and overcome the odds.”
Robinson's Dons will be looking to bounce back on Saturday when they host Hull City at stadiummk - tickets are priced at just £12 adults and £1 for under-18s while under-12s can go FREE with a Young Dons membership.
