George sets up winning goal

21 October 2015

George Baldock provided the assist for the winning goal in Oxford United’s 1-0 victory over top-of-the-table Plymouth Argyle.

The full-back, making his 16th appearance of the season, latched onto a through ball on 32 minutes and teed up Liam Sercombe to score what proved to be the only goal of the Sky Bet League 2 contest.

As a result of Oxford’s victory, their third in four league games, they closed the gap on the leaders Argyle to just two points.

Elsewhere, Ben Tilney played the full 90 minutes for Histon in their Southern Football League Premier Division clash with Kings Lynn Town.

Tilney went close to opening the deadlock for the Stutes, who were beaten 2-1 on the same day their manager Brian Page stepped down as first-team manager.

Baldock and Tilney are now the only Dons out on loan as Tom Hitchcock, Harry Hickford and Kabongo Tshimanga have all returned to stadiummk following their spells at Stevenage, Torquay United and Corby Town, respectively.
