Diego Poyet is relishing the chance to go up against his former side Charlton Athletic at stadiummk on Tuesday evening.
He made his debut in an FA Cup tie against Oxford United and went on to make 23 appearances in total for the South East London club prior to moving to Premier League outfit West Ham United.
Poyet told MK Dons PlayerHD: “I’m really looking forward to it, I haven’t played against them since I left. I can’t get too carried away, though. I’ve just got to see it as any other game.
“I’ve got great memories from my time there but I’m here now and I want us to win. There’s a good opportunity for us, if we play like we did (against Hull) to get three points. It’s a big game.
“The last big game we had here was against Blackburn because it was one we felt we’d got to win. Tuesday is an important one and everybody knows that. Not too put any more pressure on us, because we want to win every game, but Tuesday is big.”
The Dons go into tonight’s match on the back of a 2-0 home defeat to Hull City and although they’ll be hoping for a different result this evening, they will be hoping to replicate what was an impressive performance against a side sitting second in the division.
“The players that were on the pitch for us deserve a lot of credit for the way we played against a team like Hull,” Poyet added. “For large parts I thought we played well and if we play like that on Tuesday then I hope we can get a positive result.”
