Kabongo grabs debut goal

25 November 2015

Kabongo Tshimanga enjoyed a dream debut for Nuneaton Town, scoring the winning goal off the bench in their 2-1 triumph on Tuesday evening.

The striker was introduced midway through the second half in Boro’s first versus second clash with North Ferriby United and within 10 minutes of coming on, with the score level at 1-1, he tapped home a Callum Chettle cross to secure all three points for his new side.

Tshimanga took his total for the season into double figures with the 78th minute finish, which also kept Nuneaton at the top of the National League North table - the 19-year-old’s previous nine goals came during a loan spell at Corby Town.

The U’s remain second in Sky Bet League 2 despite the draw and are still only two points behind leaders Plymouth Argyle, who were held by Leyton Orient.

Baldock was at the heart of most of the United’s best attacking moments while he also came up with a number of important defensive stops at the back to prevent the visitors from leaving the Kassam Stadium with all three points.

Elsewhere, George Baldock put in a dazzling performance for Oxford United but couldn’t prevent from being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Newport County.

Oldham fell into the relegation zone as a result of the defeat so they’ll be hoping to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to foot-of-the-table Crewe Alexandra.

The 18-year-old entered the contest on 68 minutes with the score 3-1 in favour of the visitors. He did help the Latics pull a goal back not long after his introduction but David Dunn’s side were eventually beaten 5-2.

Giorgio Rasulo, meanwhile, was brought on from the bench in Oldham Athletic’s Sky Bet League 1 clash with Southend United.
