Ten-man Dons saw off Crawley Town, just a few days after their terrific 4-0 triumph over Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.

Dele Alli set Karl Robinson’s side on their way with a perfectly-placed finish before David Martin saved Izale McLeod’s penalty midway through the second period, after the former Dons striker was pulled back by Kyle McFadzean, who was subsequently sent off.

The men from MK1 then defended valiantly for the remainder of the contest and their hard work was rewarded when Benik Afobe sealed the points with a cool, close-range strike in injury-time.

Starting XI: Martin; Baldock, Lewington (c), Kay, McFadzean; Alli, Potter (Randall 55); Powell, Hitchcock (Carruthers 66), Bowditch (Spence 70); Afobe.

Unused subs: McLoughlin, Flanagan, Rasulo, Grigg.

Goals: Alli (15), Afobe (90+2).

Booked: Carruthers.

Attendance: 7,148 (244 away)

REACTION
Karl Robinson: “The players deserve a ton of credit because they stuck to their game plan and ground out a very hard-fought 2-0 win.”

David Martin: “I was pleased I was there to make the saves, including the penalty and it’s great to have a clean sheet at the end of it because I was a little bit busier than I want to be at home.”
