Pitch renovation continues

18 May 2015

Head Groundsman Joe Aylett and his team are continuing work on the stadiummk pitch in preparation for the 2015/16 season.

The renovation began last Wednesday morning and saw the turf completely stripped out and seeded.

Aylett told MK Dons Player: “The contractors have come in and they’ve started by completing stripping the pitch out so all the old grass is completely taken out.

“The next process will be to seed it, sand it all over and then fertilise it. We’ll then start water it for the next eight weeks and hopefully we’ll have a beautiful pitch after that time.”

Work on the pitch started a lot earlier than it did prior to the 2014/15 campaign and Aylett believes that will lead to an improved playing surface for Karl Robinson’s men in the Championship.

“The pitch should be a lot better,” he said. “I’d love eight weeks every year in order to have a nice, established pitch but sometimes I’ve been down to five or six. We’ve started nice and early this year and we should have nice pitch in time for the first game.”
