Despite being just 23, Lee Hodson has over 80 Championship appearances to his name and the right-back is looking forward to returning to that level with the Dons next season.
“Me and a few other lads have played in the Championship before but it will be new to some of the group,” Hodson told mkdons.com. “I’m sure everybody is up for the challenge and I’ve got no doubts that the whole squad is capable of playing at that level.”
Although the Dons will go into their inaugural Championship season full of confidence after their terrific 2014/15 campaign, they will face much sterner tests against some tough teams, some of whom have recently been in the Premier League.
Hodson, though, says the group aren’t just going to ‘make up the numbers’ and believes their potential ‘underdog’ status could turn out to be a positive.
The Northern Ireland international added: “We’re probably going to be underdogs in nearly every game we go into but I think that could be a good thing.
“We’ve got to go out there and enjoy it because it’s going to be a good experience for everyone but we don’t want to just be a number – we want to be competing in the Championship and I’m sure the Gaffer has said that as well.
“If we can go out there and play the same football we played last season then hopefully we’ll get the results we need to earn a comfortable position.”
