Dele hopes to fulfil promotion dream

2 May 2015

Dele Alli says it will be a dream come true to help the Dons achieve promotion from Sky Bet League 1.

The men from MK1 face Yeovil Town on Sunday knowing that they will be playing Championship football next season if they better Preston North End’s result away at Colchester United.

Should that scenario happen, Sunday will be Alli’s final game in a Dons shirt before he joins Tottenham Hotspur and, therefore, the Academy graduate is eager to ensure he caps off his time at stadiummk on the highest possible note.

“Being from the MK, the dream for me is to help this team get promoted,” Alli told MK Dons Player. “We’re ready and hopefully this is our year. We’ve got a really good team but we’re not going to get too carried away with recent results.

“It’s going to be emotional having been here for so long. I’ve given 110 percent every game so far so nothing is going to change there.”

Earlier this week, Alli was named Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates after a terrific season in central midfield – an achievement which, he says, ranks alongside the other top accolades he’s gathered in 2014/15.

“It’s a great achievement for me and it’s up there with the others. I feel honoured to win it, up against such a good team.

“I wouldn’t have been able to achieve all the things I’ve have this year without my team-mates. There are a great bunch of lads here and training with them each day has been really fun.”

He continued: “It’s been a crazy year for me and I’ve achieved a lot. I’ve been really happy with everything but I’m going to keep working hard and hopefully achieve more in the future.”
