Baker signs new Dons deal

8 May 2015

Player of the Year Carl Baker has signed a new deal with MK Dons.

The winger has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract, which runs until June 2016. The deal was announced at Friday’s promotion celebration at thecentre:mk.

Speaking to mkdons.com, Baker said: “I’m delighted to get it sorted. I love playing football here and it’s perfect for me - the staff, players and the fans are all spot and it couldn’t be much better.

“This season went really well. I played a big part in helping the team promoted, so it’s nice to be rewarded with a new contract and it will be great to play in the Championship with the lads next year.”

Baker joined the Dons in September as a free agent and soon established himself as a fans’ favourite with his determined performances and eye for goal.

In 35 appearances, the 32-year-old made 13 assists and netted 10 times, including the first of five goals in the promotion-clinching success over Yeovil Town. His excellent form throughout the campaign earned him the top award at the Dons’ Player of the Year awards.

Baker also has experience of playing in the Sky Bet Championship, having featured in 58 games for Coventry City during their two seasons in the second tier between 2010 and 2012.
