Tom to stay at stadiummk

1 June 2015

Tom Flanagan has signed a new deal to remain with the Dons.

The 23-year-old centre-back has penned a new one-year contract which confirms his stay at stadiummk until at least next summer.

Flanagan told MK Dons Player: “I’m more excited than ever to be staying after the promotion.

“Kyle and Kaysy did brilliantly last season and that probably hindered my opportunities, but I felt I did well when I came in and I’m buzzing for next season.”

He added: “I’ve been working hard in the off-season and I want to come back flying.”

Since making his debut for the Dons as an 18-year-old in a fixture at Carlisle United in 2010, the Academy graduate has featured close to 50 times for Karl Robinson’s first-team.

The towering defender, who has netted three goals, contributed to four clean-sheets in 2014/15, helping the men from MK1 break their season record for shut-outs on their way to securing promotion.

Dons boss Robinson said: “Tom is one for the future and I do think he has a great future at this Football Club. His opportunities were limited last season because the other players did so well but when he was called upon he was magnificent.”

An interview with Tom will be available to view on Player shortly.
