The UEFA Champions League final takes place on Saturday so mkdons.com has taken a look at the Dons who have featured in the prestigious competition.
Striker Bridges, who made just one appearance for the Dons, played a handful of games for Leeds United during their 2000/01 campaign, where they reached the semi-final.
Chadwick made several Champions League appearances during his time with Manchester United, including one as a substitute in a quarter-final tie away at Bayern Munich in 2001.
Roberto Di Matteo
Ex-Dons manager Di Matteo won the Champions League as interim manager of Chelsea in 2011/12, leading the Blues to a final victory over Bayern Munich at their Allianz Arena home. He also played in the competition for the London club during the 1999/2000 season.
Tore Andre Flo
Flo featured in every match of Chelsea’s 1999/2000 campaign and scored eight goals, including three braces - one of which came in the first leg of a quarter-final against Barcelona. He also represented and scored for Rangers in the competition.
German international Hamann won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, featuring in that dramatic Istanbul final where the Reds came from 3-0 down to win on penalties. He also featured in the competition for Bayern Munich.
Stephen Hughes (L)
Former Dons loanee Hughes made six appearances for Rangers in the competition, half of which came in qualifier and the other three during their Group Stage campaign of 2003.
Hornuss, who was a member of the Dons’ inaugural squad, played for Luxembourg outfit Fola in their 2013/14 second-round qualifying tie against Dinamo Zagreb.
Despite playing for illustrious clubs such as Liverpool and Inter Milan, former Dons boss Ince only ever featured in the Champions League for Manchester United – he featured in two campaigns between 1993 and 1995.
Midfielder Potter was a member of the Liverpool squad throughout their 2004/05 campaign. Although he didn’t feature in the final, he did qualify for a winner’s medal having been included in the 25-man squad.
Former Scotland international Rae made three Champions League appearances for Rangers between 2004 and 2005, including a start in a 1-1 draw away at Portuguese giants Porto.
The midfielder made two appearances for Arsenal during their 2008/09 European campaign, coming on as a substitute in the fixtures with FC Twente and Porto.
Smart, who enjoyed a short loan spell with the Dons, featured for Latvian club Skonto in their two-legged qualifying tie against Wisla back in July 2011 – they were beaten 3-0 on aggregate.
Smith reached the semi-finals during his time with Leeds United in 2000/01. The former England international also played in the competition for Manchester United, scoring in that 7-1 victory over Roma.
Former Dons Player of the Year Williams was an unused substitute in Drogheda United’s qualifying win over Estonian club Levadia back in July 2008.
