Some players have to wait years to achieve a promotion but young goalkeeper Charlie Burns was able to enjoy two in only his first season as a professional!
Then, after his spell at Treyew Road ended in February, Burns returned to stadiummk and was a part of nearly every matchday squad as the Dons pipped Preston North End to second place and secured Sky Bet Championship status.
“Unfortunately I had to go to two promotion parties last year,” Burns joked! “It was a good year for me."
He continued: “I played 20-odd games with Truro and we went on a really good run. In the end the lads went on to get promoted and they are all over moon to be part of the Conference South. I managed to get down there to see all the boys this summer which was fun!”
Burns’ impressive displays while at Truro, along with his performances in training, saw him offered another one-year deal which will keep him with the Club until at least next summer.
With that new contract under his belt, the Academy product is eager to continue his development. Burns added: “I know the weaknesses and strengths in my game and I’ve worked quite closely with Healdy with all that stuff.
“Next year I want to continue improving on that and hopefully get a bit of football, whether that be by going out on loan or in reserve games.”
