Bowds believes in current crop

11 June 2015

Dean Bowditch believes keeping the core of the promotion-winning squad will benefit the men from MK1 in 2015/16.

Bowditch followed in the footsteps of Carl Baker, Lee Hodson, Tom Flanagan and Dean Lewington this week when he penned a new deal.

Meanwhile, Joe Walsh has made his move a permanent one and the Club have exercised options in the contracts of Jordan Spence and Daniel Powell to keep the pair for at least another year.

He told MK Dons Player: “There were a lot of lads out of contract – I’ve been texting the lads and we are all so pleased we are going to be here next year. There’s a fantastic team spirit.

“That core needs to stay but obviously we need to add a few more and some really good players that are right for the team.”

The 28-year-old admits it’s hard not to think about football during the off-season and is hard working hard to ensure he returns for pre-season in the best possible condition.

“It’s hard to switch off,” he said. “I have been away and I tried to switch off but even then you are itching to do stuff – you see people kicking a ball around and you want to just go and join in.

“You almost want to go again, especially with the way we finished. We are having a good time off but I am in most days trying to keep myself ticking over and all the boys know we need to come back fitter and stronger.”
