Antony relishing Terriers reunion

18 June 2015

Antony Kay is one of a number of Dons players who will face former sides in the Championship next season.

The 32-year-old defender, who last week signed a new one-year deal to remain at stadiummk, will go up against ex-club Huddersfield Town for the first time in October, three years after leaving Yorkshire.

“It’s always good to play against your old clubs and it will be nice to go back to Huddersfield and play there,” Kay told mkdons.com after finalising his new contract.

“Every game next season will be a big one, with the clubs that are in the league and some of the grounds we’ll be going to. The atmosphere will be greater too, especially here at stadiummk.”

He continued: “I’ve played in the Championship for Barnsley when I was a younger. It’s a tough league with some big teams but the style of football that we play will suit us, I think. I’m looking forward to it and I’m confident we can do well.

“Obviously we’ll want to make sure we stay in the league and if we play to our capabilities then I’m sure we’ll do that. We’ve got a good mix of experienced players who have played in the Championship before and younger players who will want to flourish at that level.”
