Preview: Mansfield Town

21 July 2015

The Dons face Football League opposition tonight for the first time during their 2015/16 pre-season campaign.

Karl Robinson’s side begin the second half of their summer schedule of games with a trip to Sky Bet League 2 outfit Mansfield Town - kick-off is set for 7.45pm.

The Stags are five matches into their pre-season fixture list and faced League 1 club Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday as part of Tykes defender Bobby Hassel’s testimonial – Adam Murray’s side, despite goals from Matt Green, Reggie Lambe and Craig Westcarr, lost 4-3.

The men from MK1 were also involved in goal-fests on the weekend, during their local double-header against Newport Pagnell Town and Buckingham Athletic. The Dons squad split into two and came away with 6-0 and 12-0 victories.

Tonight, though, represents a much tougher test for Robinson’s squad and the Liverpudlian is looking forward to the challenge.

He told “The real work starts at Mansfield – we’re going to start homing in on what we want to do. (Fans) will start to see a team that will bare a close resemblance to the one that may start the season.

“This pre-season is still nowhere near finished, even though we’ll only be two weeks away on Saturday from the first ball being kicked. We’ve still got an awful lot of work to do.”

Martin, Cropper, Spence, Hodson, McFadzean, Walsh, Kay, Lewington, Potter, Carruthers, Baker, Bowditch, Powell, Reeves, Rasulo, Jennings, Tshimanga, Church.

Tickets, which can be bought at Field Mill, are priced at £7 for all ages.
