MK Dons have signed Real Madrid Castilla captain Sergio Aguza.
Aguza joined Madrid at the age of 16 and, after impressing for the C team, he made his debut for the Castilla side in September 2013. In the last two seasons, the Spaniard featured 46 times for the ‘Galacticos’ reserve outfit, scoring seven goals.
He also featured on the bench twice for Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team last season.
Speaking to mkdons.com, his new boss Karl Robinson said: “I’ve seen Sergio play a number of times and he’s an exceptionally talented player. He’s very dynamic in his movements and his ball retention as well.
“He was captain of Real Madrid Castilla so he’ll bring tremendous strength to us. He’s someone who will really add to the group and he might be able to give us something we’ve never had before.”
He continued: “Obviously he and Cristian (Benavente) will be a few months behind, having to integrate into a new culture and language. It’s good, though, that Sergio has someone like Cristian alongside him to help him move forward.”
Aguza, like Benavente, will not be eligible to play until the Club has received international clearance.
