New Year's Day delight for Harry

2 January 2015

Defender Harry Hickford helped Chelmsford City to a 2-0 victory over Ebbsfleet United on New Year’s Day.

Eighteen-year-old Hickford, making his third appearance since returning to the Clarets on one-month loan deal, was part of a back three which played their role in the victory by keeping the side’s first clean sheet in six games.

The result lifts Mark Hawkes’ side to seventh place in the Vanarama Conference South table and sees them move to within two points of the top three.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Charlie Burns played his ninth game for Truro City as they were held to a 1-1 draw away at 10-man Weymouth.

Burns, who has kept four clean sheets in his nine appearances for the White Tigers, was beaten from the penalty spot late in the first half but helped to see out the point late-on - one which extends the Cornwall outfit’s unbeaten run to seven games.

Will Summerfield, the only other Don in action, was an unused substitute as Arlesey Town beat Biggleswade 2-1.

The winger has now returned to the Football Club following the expiry of his loan.
