Robbo revels in superb success

2 February 2015

Karl Robinson couldn’t speak highly enough of his players after the Dons’ stunning 5-0 success at Crewe Alexandra.

Devante Cole bagged a brace on his first start for the Club either side of a fine Dean Bowditch finish, before goals from Carl Baker and Daniel Powell in the second half completed the convincing win.

The 34-year-old said: “We’ve never won here and we came with an attitude of intent. Our attitude from the kick-off really set our stall out.

“The weather was difficult, the pitch was hard and inconsistent, so to come here and get five goals is a real sign of intent.”

He added: “But there’s a lot of work to be done. We’ve got a lot of games to play and we’re not getting carried away with that others are doing around us.

“Bristol City at home next is a huge game for both teams.

“We have to keep our feet firmly on the ground. But it’s the top of the table clash. It’s a tremendous credit to everyone involved.”

Robinson reserved a special mention for Manchester City loanee Cole, who looked impressive on the left wing.

“He’s got tremendous ability,” he said. “There’s still so many things he can improve as well, but he’s got what you can’t coach - the ability to arrive in the box at the right time. It’s a gift he’s been given, probably by his dad (Andrew Cole)!

“But the bits outside the box we can sharpen up. I’m excited by how good he can become.”
