Lee expecting response

11 February 2015

Lee Hodson insists he and his Dons team-mates are eager to bounce back from Monday’s defeat to Bradford City.

Karl Robinson’s side slipped to only their second loss in 20 league matches at Valley Parade but they do have a chance to reclaim second place this Saturday should they beat Gillingham and Swindon Town drop points at Scunthorpe United.

“The lads know (the Bradford performance) wasn’t good enough so there will be a reaction from that,” Hodson told MK Dons Player. “We’ve done it on previous occasions this season so we just need to put this one away and get back to how we normally play.

“We haven’t lost that many games this season and the best teams will bounce back when they do. It’s a big three points up for grabs for us and although it’s going to be another tough game, we’re going to have to go there with confidence from our previous matches before Bradford.”

Monday’s defeat to the Bantams was the first time a Dons side had lost from a winning position in the league since November 2013 – Robinson’s men led briefly thanks to Dele Alli’s 13th goal of the season before Billy Clarke and then James Hanson won it for the hosts.

“Coming into the game we knew what they were going to do on this pitch - play it long up to Hanson. I think in the first half we dealt with that okay but then in the second half we’ve conceded two goals which we’ve switched off for.

“We like to get it on the floor and play but we can’t use (the pitch) has an excuse. Whatever state the pitch is in, we as players have got to deal with it. We knew it was going to do be tough but it just wasn’t good enough.

“On a personal note, my performance wasn’t good enough either. I’ve come back in and we’ve lost the game so I’m disappointed. If I get another chance on Saturday then I’ll need to up my performance and do a lot better.”
