Three of the five clean sheets the Dons have kept this season have come in the last two months and Karl Robinson wants that resolute defending to continue.
“It’s tight down the bottom but the good thing for us is our goal difference is relatively good compared to others,” Robinson said in his midweek presser. “Hopefully that can continue because that could play a big, big part come the end of the season.
“We need to make sure we keep keeping clean sheets like we did on Saturday and then, when we get the opportunity, score as many goals as we can.
“We can’t go through the season on a hope that the other teams miss chances, though. We need and want to be better than the opposition and not leave anything to chance.”
“Sometimes when a new manager goes in there is an upturn in form because they are replacing someone who hasn’t done well but that’s not the case at Brentford. The players played out of their skin for Lee (Carsley) so we’re hoping there’s not much more to come from them.”
“It’s great to see Dean Smith go in there,” Robinson added. “He’s a tremendous person, a real good football person and he’s somebody who I’m sure the players will respond to straight away. I saw him at the game (on Tuesday) and I wished him luck.
The men from MK1 will be looking to continue that form this weekend when they travel to Griffin Park to face Brentford – a team who appointed former Walsall boss Dean Smith as their manager on Tuesday. Tickets for Saturday's clash with Brentford are priced from £23 adults and £6 under-18s while travel is available at £13 adults and £12 all other supporters.
