Loan duo feature in FA Cup ties

7 December 2015

There were mixed results for the two Dons loanees involved in the Emirates FA Cup this past weekend.

George Baldock and Giorgio Rasulo both featured in their respective sides’ fixtures, but only the former found himself on the winning side.

Baldock played the full 90 minutes as Oxford United booked their place in the third-round with a 1-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers at the Kassam Stadium.

Kemar Roofe bagged the only goal of the game for the U’s, who, with Baldock’s help, kept their fifth clean sheet in seven games.

Meanwhile, Giorgio Rasulo came off the bench in Oldham Athletic’s tie with Sheffield United but couldn’t prevent the Latics exiting the competition courtesy of a 1-0 loss.

The Blades were reduced to 10-man midway through the second half but were still able to hold onto their advantage, given to them by Matt Done, in Rasulo’s fifth appearance for Oldham.

Also in action on Saturday was Kabongo Tshimanga but his afternoon was cut short due to injury.

The striker started Nuneaton Town’s Vanarama National League North match with Corby Town – a side he spent time on loan with earlier this season – but was forced off after only 25 minutes.

He did, however, go close to scoring early on with a header which was saved brilliantly by Chris Burgoyne.
