Karl: Dons deserved more

21 December 2015

Karl Robinson believes his side deserved more from their Sky Bet Championship clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Despite a fine second-half finish from substitute Josh Murphy and a dominant away display, the Dons were unable to come away from Nottinghamshire with a deserved positive result - instead they were punished for a sloppy first 15 minutes in which they conceded twice.

“They deserved more,” Robinson told the media. “Our defending for the two goals was abysmal but if you eradicate that from the game then we were by far the better team.

“We were the away team but we were in on the front foot, we kept them on their heels and we dominated. As a group we were excellent and we played some very good football.

“Things just weren’t dropping for us. We’ve missed a penalty and their keeper’s made two wonderful saves. We’ve carved a very good team open and, in my eyes, my players were magnificent.”

We need to keep marching on."

He added: “Their efforts this past week have been sensational. They played three games in a week and in every single one of those they performed well. We lost two, both by only one goal.

Saturday’s game was the Dons’ third in seven days and in all three fixtures they have arguably been the more dominant side. Robinson, therefore, was keen to praise his players for their efforts.
