George Baldock and Kabongo Tshimanga both featured for their respective loan clubs on Saturday afternoon.
The right-back, who has totalled 22 Sky Bet League 2 appearances this season, played a part in United’s goal by crossing for Patrick Hoban, who teed-up scorer Liam Sercombe.
Oxford, though, were beaten 2-1 by the Chairboys – their first loss in 11 games, which saw them drop to third in the table.
Meanwhile, Tshimanga made his return from injury to help Nuneaton Town earn a point from their Vanarama National League North clash with Chorley.
The striker, who had been sidelined recently with a slight knock, was brought on with his side trailing 2-1 and 13 minutes after his introduction, Boro were able to equalise through Aaron Williams.
Tshimanga went agonisingly close to winning the game for Nuneaton with a header late on but, in the end, the Warwickshire outfit were forced to settle for a draw – a result which keeps them top of the table by two points.
