Bowds: On to the next game

11 August 2015

Although delighted with Saturday’s victory at Rotherham United, winger Dean Bowditch says the team won’t dwell on the result too much.

The Dons made a dream start to their first ever Sky Bet Championship campaign, beating the Millers 4-1 at their AESSEAL New York Stadium – the biggest victory in the division on opening weekend.

Bowditch played a key role in that win, providing the assist for Rob Hall’s fifth minute tap-in before adding a goal of his own later in the half, but the winger insists that attention has moved swiftly to the next game.

“We won’t dwell on it,” Bowditch told MK Dons PlayerHD. “We’ve got to make sure we’re on it for the next game and not get too confident because there will be plenty of times that will be gunning for us after seeing that result.”

He continued: “We had a lot of time to prepare for (Saturday) and it couldn’t have gone better for us really. From back to front we were fantastic and you couldn’t fault anybody. The boys that have come in did a fantastic job too.

“We just continued doing what we did last year. It wouldn’t have mattered who we’d have come up against, we would have tried to perform exactly the same way.

“There are many more games to go, though, and it’s going to be a long old haul. We’ve just got to look forward to the next game now but it’s not a bad start.”

Over 900 fans made the trip to South Yorkshire on Saturday, backing the Dons throughout, and Bowditch hopes that support can continue, starting with tonight’s Capital One Cup tie against Leyton Orient at stadiummk.

“There were nearly a thousand fans here and it was absolutely fantastic. Hopefully they all keep coming because they were brilliant from when we went out for the warm-up right through to the end of the game.

“We’ve played a couple of games there in pre-season and the fans turned up for those so hopefully they’ll be there for us on Tuesday and be right behind us."

Tickets for Tuesday's Capital One Cup tie against Leyton Orient are available to buy right up until kick-off - tickets are priced from £10 adults, £8 for over-65s and £1 for under-18s.
