Karl Robinson dedicated Tuesday’s 3-0 triumph over Doncaster Rovers to the late Dr Jim Marshall OBE.
What’s more, the fans showed their appreciation with a minute’s applause before, during the half-time break, the talented musician Steve Winch performed live from the upper tier.
“Tonight belongs to Jim Marshall,” he said. “I think he would look at this team the same way he would look at his business – thriving, forward-thinking and always striving to be better with an amazing work ethic.
“He and the chairman were very close for a number of years and he would look at the Football Club, in the place where his business grew, and be very proud.
“The city, that he was so fond of, has a football team to be proud of and the fans did him proud in the 11th minute. I know what he means to the Football Club and the fans.”
